Dr. Benasher is a graduate of CUNY Queens College where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a Minor in Biochemistry. He received his Doctor of Medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in the Department of Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center. Recently, Dr. Benasher completed his fellowship training in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at Maimonides Medical Center.

Dr. Benasher has experience treating a wide range of solid tumors such as lung cancer, prostate cancer, and gastrointestinal cancers amongst others. His experience also includes treating an array of hematological malignancies such as Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, Chronic lymphocytic leukemia, Myelodysplastic syndromes, and Multiple myeloma. Additionally, he has experience in evaluating and treating benign hematologic disorders such as iron deficiency anemia, blood disorders in pregnancy, hypercoagulable states, and bleeding disorders.

Dr. Benasher has researched the utility of next-generation sequencing in metastatic colorectal cancer. He has also investigated the management of thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura in special patient populations who do not accept blood products.

  • "It was my first time to be seen in this office . As soon as I checked in at the counter and the receptionist checked my ID and insurance card , I was assisted by nurse Sarah in the exam room . Nurse Sarah was so polite , accommodating and knows that I was very nervous but she assured me that I will be well taken care in that visit . She was very skillful when she drew my blood . She gave me a bottle of water and a snack after the blood drawing . Dr Benasher saw me right after.the blood was drawn . He was such a very pleasant person . He discussed with me the possible causes of my illness . He was patient in waiting for my wife , who accompanied me , to finish speaking with the lady on the other line from my gastroenterologist office , to verify my last colonoscopy procedure . When my wife mentioned to Dr Benasher that I take iron supplement , he told us to wait and he will check the result of one of the blood tests done on me that morning . My wife and I were so impressed that the result was already available in less than 30 minutes . We were thankful that the facility has its own laboratory .
