Valentine’s Day is synonymous with love but it shouldn’t be defined by romance. Self-love is the key to loving others and the most important aspect of self-care. When you’re going through a difficult time like a cancer diagnosis, treating yourself with compassion and gentleness is a necessary and practical measure that will better help you through treatment, recovery, and survivorship.Valentine’s Day doesn’t always have to mean fancy date nights, chocolate, and love’s perfect kiss. Showing yourself affection can be so much sweeter. Oftentimes, we’re programmed to put our loved one’s needs first and neglect our own. But this year, celebrate you and fall in love with yourself!
Self-love isn’t selfish. It actually multiplies the love in your life and strengthens the bonds in your relationships. It also doesn’t have to take up too much of your time. Although, you should schedule self-care and dedicate a whole day to yourself because you deserve it.
So drop the self-judgment and self-sacrifice and try something new this Valentine’s Day. We’ve put together a few ideas to help you create little moments throughout your day to enjoy your own company.
